NO SERVICE 3
a nonverbal Performance by Kāhī Kaḷenā
No Service 3
This non-verbal performance seeks to explore how people are constrained in their ability to express grief. It questions how we should or are allowed to grieve, and also examines the intersectionalities and cultural ties that influence our grief. We want to highlight the complexity of grief and raise questions such as: Are we allowed to grieve for people who have harmed us? Can I be relieved about someone's death and feel loss and anger at the same time? Together we will explore different ways of dealing with grief and try to show that we lack language when it comes to talking about mourning and loss. And that our language may not be sufficient to express the complexity of mourning in contexts of domestic violence, abuse and family trauma. Because we feel the pain of grief in our whole body, not just in our head.
